Insurance Claim Denied in NW Calgary? |
A denied insurance claim can feel like a door slammed shut. |

Your home repair is on hold. Your vehicle payout feels too low.
Your disability benefits stopped.
The letter sounds final, and the adjuster may not give you much room to push back.
Still, a denial is not always the last word.
Many denied claims come down to missing proof, unclear timelines, weak reports, or policy wording that needs a closer look.
The first step is to slow down and take control of the file.
Start with the denial letter. What exact reason did the insurer give? Was it an exclusion? A lack of evidence? A dispute over value? A claim that the damage was old, gradual, or unrelated?
That reason tells you what your appeal must answer.
A strong appeal is calm, clear, and backed by proof. It may include photos, contractor reports, body shop notes, medical records, repair estimates, comparable vehicle listings, or a written timeline of what happened.
Phone calls can help move things along, yet written records protect you. Ask for the policy wording used to deny the claim. Request the claim file. Keep notes from every call. Watch all deadlines.
NW Calgary residents have options.
You can use the insurer’s internal complaint process, ask for a final position letter, contact the right ombudsman service, or get local help when the claim is too large or too stressful to handle alone.
The main article walks you through what to do after a denial, how to write an appeal, what evidence to collect, and when to escalate. Before you accept “no,” learn what your next move should be. |
